Our dove eggs have hatched!

Signs of spring

Spring is in full swing here!  Baseball will be starting Saturday, the garden is taking shape and there are bird's nests in our spruce tree!

The boys found this nest where we saw a female cardinal trying to build a nest.  This is not a cardinal nest or egg.  We have not seen a mother sitting on this nest, and cannot find in our bird book what bird lays just one egg that looks like this.  Anyone have any ideas?

Then on the other side of the tree, we saw this mother dove sitting on her nest.  After I took the picture, the flash scared her and she flew away, so I took a picture of her eggs.
